Vanessa Carlton
Vanessa Carlton signs to Dine Alone, new album ‘Liberman’ out Fall 2015
Dine Alone is elated to welcome Vanessa Carlton to the family! Her haunting and cinematic track “Young Heart” premieres today at Esquire.com.
“Young Heart” marks the first release for Carlton on her new label and illustrates what we can expect to hear when her upcoming album Liberman comes out later this year. A raw and understated love song, Vanessa explains, “‘Young Heart’ is about regretting the way that you loved someone. It’s an admission about a person not being able to hand themselves over to their one true love. Ultimately the song is like a letter asking for a second chance.”
The song, recorded at Adam Landry’s Playground Sound in Nashville, was produced by Landry, and both he and Carlton’s husband, John McCauley (Deer Tick), perform on the track. When talking about the recording process, Carlton says, “We did the song in about a day. John & Adam just started picking up stuff and playing. It was one of those sessions where everything just flowed.”
“Vanessa has written a beautiful record, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her to the Dine Alone family,” says label owner Joel Carriere. “We’ve enjoyed watching her forge her own musical path as a prolific artist, and are excited to help introduce fans, new and old, to her new LP.”
