Vanessa Carlton

Vanessa Carlton premieres new track from Blue Pool EP

Vanessa Carlton showcases her total creative transformation with the release of her new song “Nothing Where Something Used To Be,” which premiered today on Paste. Click here to listen.  The track, which is a live living room session, will appear on her upcoming EP Blue Pool out July 24th.

I like to call this song my teen break up anthem.  It’s not just for teenagers.  Nothing is just for teenagers,” says Vanessa.  “The whole ‘do it’ section in the song is about wishing someone was more courageous and open with you.  I think nothing is more attractive than someone who is able to show you all their cards.  So if you are on a love cliff, that super high and terrifying cliff…..jump, just jump.

These tracks reflect Vanessa’s current state of mind since moving from NYC to Nashville, marrying husband John McCauley (Deer Tick) and having a baby girl. The simple instrumentation mixed with her wistful vocals and poignant lyrics bring you into her world and showcase a new side to this accomplished songwriter.
