Toronto’s Cam Kahin today announced his debut album CHUG will be released January 23rd, 2026 via Dine Alone Records. He also shared the album’s fiery lead single “limbo,” an atmospheric and densely distorted standout that builds to a stunning apex, alongside a dreamlike video directed by Adit Dixit. “Living in Toronto over the past few years, especially at a particularly busy intersection, I’ve found how easy it is for people to just turn a blind eye to rampant homelessness and addiction right in front of our faces,” says Kahin of the track. “Instead of addressing the root causes of these issues, we often just slap a charge on them and push them out of sight. This song speaks to that reality.” Of its video, starring a headless Kahin, director Dixit explains: “‘limbo’ is about the paralysis that comes from being trapped inside your own cycles–whether that’s grief, addiction, or the quiet kind of loneliness that makes you feel invisible. We wanted the absurd image of a headless Cam drifting through his hometown to feel both surreal and painfully real, as people pass by without noticing. The internal sequences, unravel his senses, and mirror that absence from the inside out; a meditation on what it means to exist between connection and disconnection.” CHUG is now available for pre-order HERE and on vinyl HERE.
Cam Kahin is confirmed to play a December 6th show at The Warehouse in St. Catherines, Ontario, and two January album release shows in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario, with more shows soon to be announced. A current itinerary is below and tickets are on-sale now.
Written during a period of deep self-reflection and creative experimentation, CHUG offers a heartfelt reflection on survival and persistence from a 23-year-old living in a chaotic time. Across its 10 impactful tracks, Kahin lets his rawest feelings rise to the surface without apology or polish. Produced by Kahin alongside David Steinmetz, Jeremiah Pick, and longtime collaborator Will Crann, CHUG is an emotionally and sonically immediate collection that signals a defining moment for the young artist-to-watch.
“This album is deeply personal,” Kahin says. “I wanted to write exactly what I was feeling without overanalyzing it. Out of that came this theme of persisting, even when it feels impossible. That’s what CHUG means to me: just pushing forward, full steam, no matter what.”
Lyrically, Kahin captures the quiet struggles of isolation and imposter syndrome, the weight of trying to rebuild, and the subtle hope in beginning again. One standout line from “come around” distills the record’s emotional mission: “Despite your broken parts, amass the means to start.” It’s a mantra for anyone feeling stuck, an urgent call to action when inertia feels like it’s taking over. “I think this song summarizes the sentiment behind a lot of this new music, which is resilience despite constantly feeling beaten down,” Kahin explains. “I think a lot of people right now feel exploited or forgotten and all I want to do is shine a light on them.”
Musically, CHUG is Kahin’s boldest and most cohesive work to date. From towering choruses to more introspective textures–hinting at some of Kahin’s biggest influences, everything from Blink-182 and Green Day to Radiohead and Biffy Clyro–the record leans into the organic roots of alternative rock, eschewing programmed drums and digital tropes in favor of something more raw and human. “This is an album I’ve wanted to make since I was a kid,” Kahin says. “It’s the culmination of everything I’ve been building toward.”
“I hope people feel how much I care,” he says. “I think a lot of people feel jaded. If this album can make someone feel less alone in that, or even give them a little push to keep going, then it’s done what I hoped it would.”
If that push happens in a sweaty room full of strangers shouting lyrics back at him? Even better.
