(June 24, 2020 – Toronto, ON) Today, Tokyo Police Club frontman Dave Monks is delighted to release a new solo EP On A Wave Goes Wild via Dine Alone Records. Recorded live at Port William Sound in Frontenac County, Ontario, the EP is now available to stream and purchase HERE. Kicking off with focus track “Cannibal”, which features stunning harmonies between Monks and vocalist Alyson McNamara, four of the five songs featured on the EP are new interpretations of some of the most vulnerable and raw tracks off of Monks’ debut solo full-length On A Wave, which dropped last fall. Monks shares, “I’m nervous and excited about how people will receive this EP since it’s so raw and, at times, fragile. At the same time, I’m proud of it regardless because it’s not something you could make without a pretty decent amount of practice and musicianship from both Alyson and I. We chose the songs from On A Wave that represented that chemistry the most. I think we’ve captured something special here.” Also, featured on the EP is a beautiful cover of Gillian Welch’s “Everything is Free”. Monks continues, “We started to play it in our sets on tour because it just said something that both Alyson and I related to so much. I think it says what’s on every musician’s mind but usually goes unspoken so it felt like a release to include it here.” In support of On A Wave Goes Wild, Monks will be playing a special online release show via Side Door tonight at 8:30pm ET. Joining Monks will be McNamara on electric guitar and harmonies. Click HERE to watch and join. ON A WAVE GOES WILD TRACKLIST |
