DA-ABC-DIGITAL-LOWRES-1

Dine Alone Records is proud to announce a very special children’s book called Dine Alone’s ABC’s of Rock n’ Roll to round out the celebration of the label’s 10 year anniversary (#DA10year). The digital version will be available via iBooks HERE on December 24 just in time for the holidays, with a print version to be announced in the New Year. The book is illustrated by Ryan James Terry who is a Toronto based artist, illustrator and designer. Terry also created the wonderful illustration used on the recently released Dine Alone Lullabies album by Sparrow Sleeps. All net proceeds will be once again donated to SickKids Foundation to support the highest priority needs at the hospital so staff can continue to provide exceptional care. See below for a preview!

Over the course of a decade, Dine Alone’s mission has been rooted in uniting fans with one common purpose — an unconditional love of music. With many members of the Dine Alone family now starting families of their own, the journey into parenthood has triggered a desire to introduce younger generations to good old-fashioned rock and roll. The book features artists from the label’s award-winning catalogue including: Arkells, Alexisonfire, Attack in Black, Brendan Philip, BRONCHO, City and Colour, The Dirty Nil, FIDLAR, Grade, Hannah Georgas, k-os, Lucius, .moneen., Monster Truck, P!nk/Alecia Moore, Quicksand, The Sheepdogs, Tokyo Police Club, Vanessa Carlton, Walter Schreifels, and Yukon Blonde.

Faith In The Future, the much-anticipated new record from The Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn is out today!

Finn has plumbed similar territory in the past, but instead of redundant, it plays like the culmination of his obsession with Catholicism, as though he’s adding an epilogue to his previous spiritual inquiries.” – Pitchfork

“Listening to the record is like being taken on a grand tour of the eras of hip-hop – like Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, he gives glimpses of the genre’s past, present, and future. For a rapper that’s always been on the cutting edge, it’s another testament to his celebration of experimentation.”Consequence of Sound

Dine Alone Records is excited to announce the September 11 release of the highly anticipated sophomore solo album from Craig Finn titled Faith In The Future. Josh Kaufman produced the record in the cozy, rustic confines of Woodstock’s The Isokon recording studio and helped Finn stretch the boundaries of his songwriting with confidence, invention and ambition to realize what is shaping up to be a defining moment in Finn’s vast musical career which includes his work as the frontman of The Hold Steady. Get a sneak preview of the LP at Vulture.com

At times stark and spare, at other times vibrant and dynamic, Faith in the Future is Finn’s most compelling collection thus far, each song a powerfully alluring and subtly nuanced composition wedded to his distinctive short story narratives. Much of the material on Faith in the Future was written after the passing of Finn’s mother, and while none of the songs directly address that loss, the themes of perseverance and finding redemption can be found throughout the album.

“I had both the music and lyrics to these songs, though they changed a great deal in the studio,” Finn explains. “There’s a grandness to The Hold Steady that tends to make me write about bigger, more dramatic themes. Some of these songs are more mundane, with minor slices of life that wouldn’t best be supported by the hugeness of a rock group. It wasn’t always about what we wanted to put in, but what should we leave out? We didn’t want to sermonize or moralize. Just let these songs, and characters, be.”

Finn will be hitting the road in October for a U.S. tour that includes 2 performances in N.Y. at The Bowery Ballroom, and at Beacon Theatre with My Morning Jacket, as well as a Canadian date in Toronto at The Horseshoe Tavern on October 17. 2015.
