Petter Ericson Stakee has been recording music as Alberta Cross since 2005, joined by a number of friends and fellow musicians over the course of the decade. For his third album, the self-titled Alberta Cross, the band’s mastermind and sole official member brought a collection of songs written at late-night jams in New York’s East Village to a church in Dreamland – a remote town upstate. The recordings are full of horns and strings and choruses designed to pull the listener inside, to become yet another part of the music.
“This is soulful, untouched music coming purely from the artist,” says Stakee. “Take it or leave it. But, I love you for listening to it.”
