Today, singer/songwriter Edwin Raphael shares his new single/music video “Sea Of Things” along with the announcement of his forthcoming EP Staring at Ceilings due out February 26th, 2021 via Dine Alone Records. On “Sea Of Things” Edwin gives off Jeff Buckley vibes by bearing the same soulful intensity. It’s a gorgeous, striking piece of work attributed to Edwin’s innate talents and sheer efficiency with instrumentation. On the narrative front, “Sea Of Things” is an ode to existence and dissociation catalyzed by anxiety. “Sea Of Things” is a testament to the chaotic and oftentimes perplexing nature of the ocean and of living without control.

Edwin Raphael shares this of his new single and music video: “This song heavily reflects a spectrum of human indulgence, be that with love, life’s anxieties and addictions. I think being influenced by artists like Nick Drake, Ben Howard, John Mayer were pivotal for me to have a sort of foundation for my sound. Producing this song was a bit of a challenge to hone in on really feeling underwater, I also essentially looped the main guitar to portray the vicious cycle of anxiety with constant additions to reflect and parallel the textures of the sea and the abstract nature of feeling underwater.”

“With the music video, Jonathan (editor) and I also portray the same underlying themes. Stylistically the concept is woven in dualism and complex details to really parallel brain waves as well as one’s thoughts. It was important to have a real level of aestheticism that was in sync with the song to really forge a real relationship and show interdependence.”

In October, Edwin shared his first single off the EP “Mild Sanity (feat. Juletta)”. Deeply absorbing and incredibly cathartic all at once, Edwin’s languid vocals and atmospheric melodies take listeners’ minds outside the cruelties of the world’s relentless wreckage. “Mild Sanity” is also elevated by NYC pop singer-songwriter Juletta’s ethereal cadence. The track was lauded by Under The Radar, American Songwriter, EARMILK, Culture Collide, Indie Shuffle, and was included on Spotify’s Folk & Friends playlist and NPR’s New Music Friday playlist.

(December 4, 2020)Today, 20-year-old experimental hip-hop and hardcore artist DEAR-GOD (Robert Ortiz) releases his debut EP titled 1-844-4DEAR-GOD via Dine Alone Records and his own imprint End Time, mixed by Lars Stalfors (Lil Peep, Soccer Mommy, St. Vincent). 1-844-4DEAR-GOD finds Ortiz channeling a relentless energy and attitude that calls back to the notorious reputation of his live shows back in his hometown and base of Brampton, Ontario.

The five-track EP features “Slamdance” of which DEAR-GOD shares, “My generation is facing increasing adversity in this world as we try to live and thrive in a wasteland of an earth. This song is about watching the world fall down economically, politically, morally, and environmentally. Any hope for a sustainable future for us has been lost.” He continues, “Last year when I was in Chile I witnessed dried up hills and mountains, dangerously high sea levels, dried up rivers and burned down forests. This year, COVID-19 hit and the worldwide economy collapsed. Our world is run by old rich white men who only thrive off of inhumane dominance. Sometimes I feel helpless and hopeless. I don’t want to have a kid, in fear of the climate they’ll have to grow up in. I wanted to make a positive song that could read, ‘we are hurting, but we are together, and if we work with each other instead of alone, we can at least venture into undiscovered territory. Our world is slowly starting to realize that independence can be selfish and harmful; equity is the real key to a just society.’”

DEAR-GOD continues to build on the singular, unconventional hip-hop and punk sound he first introduced with debut single “The Burbs” and “Bitter Winter“. The EP kicks off with high-octane “New Kid On The Block” and includes “Buck” which first aired on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on Apple Music with the video premiered by Exclaim! Magazine. “Lovin’ It” notably pulls post-punk instrumentation into the fold, concluding with the electrifying “FMTTP”.

The digital version of the score is out now on streaming platforms HERE. Physical pre-orders are available HERE via Dine Alone Records.

Having lent their talents to the Far Cry video game series, Starlink: Battle for Atlas, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege, and horror films like The Ranger (Shudder), MacNeil and Macpherson have created an ominous, yet understated and unsettling style of electronica. Characterised by its atmospheric soundscapes and a pulsating, hypnotic edge, the score perfectly echoes the themes depicted in an uncompromising, visually stunning film. Link to score artwork: https://bit.ly/3kiMXb3

Says MacNeil, “When you’re scoring a film you are creating a soundtrack for a world that doesn’t exist. Finding the sounds and melodies for that bleak stretch of rust belt highway in ‘Random Acts’ was exhilarating. Making music to frighten people is such a unique way to spend your time in a studio. I love it.”

Based on the Image Comics graphic novel by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti, Random Acts of Violence is an elevated slasher horror that will easily become a cult favourite; scratching the entertainment element of horror whilst searching for the deeper meaning behind the violence. The film explores the idea of legitimising cruelty, and the fact that monsters are not merely monsters, they are broken people. Stretching from one end of the emotional spectrum to the other, it holds a mirror up to art, society and violence.

Wade MacNeil is the founder and guitarist of Alexisonfire, and has also served as frontman of renowned punk band Gallows. In 2017, Wade composed additional music for Jay Baruchel’s comedy Goon: Last of the Enforcers, where he met Andrew.

Andrew “Ango” Macpherson is a producer, composer and filmmaker. He has produced music for the likes of Jacques Greene, Machinedrum, Tommy Genesis, Cadence Weapon, Jesse Boykins III, Lunice, Katy B, Syv de Blare and many more. Andrew has also recorded for UK label LuckyMe Records and produced tracks for labels such as Last Gang, eOne, Ninja Tune, 4AD, B4 Sounds, True Romance and 100%Silk. In 2015, Andrew wrote and produced on the Juno-nominated album Dirty Laundry by Ben Stevenson and he is an alum and studio team member of the Red Bull Music Academy.

“I feel like a lot of people don’t understand what I’m trying to do with my music,” DEAR-GOD reflects. “I’m trying to be as genuine as possible. I tried to make this song stupid and simplistic, so that it’s easy to understand. This one’s for the uptight hipsters that make boring music and hate on others. I’ve got my people that I respect in my corner and that’s all I could ever ask for.”

“Anxious bedroom confessionals, suburban scene reports and rallying cries” –Exclaim!

“A gigantic burst of noise worthy of instant attention. Fierce would be an understatement.” –DIY Mag

“Smashing Pumpkins if they signed to Dischord” –Pitchfork

“That’s a lot of fucking noise for one dude. What an amazing song.

(October 28, 2020) – Whitby, Canada-native Chastity, real name Brandon Williams, shares a powerful anthem today titled “Drain the Bloodbath” about dying for a better life ahead. Featuring Makeda Francisco, the veteran studio singer whose soaring vocals have graced tracks by everyone from Girls to Lenny Kravitz to Earth Wind & Fire, “Drain the Bloodbath” is available to stream and purchase HERE via Dine Alone Records.

Optimism and hope lie at the heart of the lighter-than-air, melodic pop-rock song, imagining that the destructive and turbulent political reality of 2020 will soon improve. Speaking on it, Williams says, “Been trying to think of all the good people in the U.S. right now instead of the trippy ones. My pal has been telling me that this is the end of a bad era, not the beginning of one. I love that. Hoping for some positive change, hoping that the world is able to drain this bloodbath.”

The new song is Chastity’s first in 2020 and follows an industrious 2019 with the release of Home Made Satan, the second installment of a building trilogy, via Captured Tracks. That album brings a pop sensibility to the band’s catalog following their acclaimed 2018 debut Death Lust. Chastity also embarked on an extensive North American headlining run and numerous dates with DIIV in the U.K., Europe and the U.S.

Download single artwork: https://bit.ly/3oyx7M0

Channeling the feeling of youth on the fringe, Chastity focuses on the earnest connections found in pent up suburbia. Living in the outskirts, Brandon Williams creates music in a space of urgency, melody and chaos – an artifact of youth culture that bridges isolation and collectivity. Chastity is a stand out temperament in music, in recent history sharing the stage with DIIV, Chelsea Wolfe and Japandroids.

Death Lust was received with both critical and cultural acclaim, with praise from Pitchfork and voluntary cosigns from artists including Lars Ulrich, Dallas Green and Jehnny Beth. The project’s debut was quickly followed up with Home Made Satan, a political record that was prophetic to the year that the world would see in 2020.

(September 25, 2020) 19-year-old experimental hip-hop and hardcore artist DEAR-GOD (Robert Ortiz) releases a smashing new single titled “Lovin’ It” today, available to stream and purchase HERE on Dine Alone Records, and his own imprint End Time. Where his releases to date have explored the interstitial space between hardcore and rap, “Lovin’ It” notably pulls post-punk instrumentation into the fold and marks a new chapter for the project.

“Lovin It’ is a fun song about winning after years of rejection,” Ortiz shares. “Growing up, I never felt like I could succeed or be happy in an academic setting. I grinded it out after high school busting my ass doing physically exhausting dirty jobs because I wanted to support my music career. I was greeted with a lot of rejection for a long time, but I kept going. This song should serve as inspiration to any kid who feels stupid and worthless because of their academic/career failures. Know your worth and do something sick.”

CBC Music interviewed the “prodigy” whose “influences range from Tupac Shakur to Chilean folk. He’s fiercely independent with a sharp sense of humour — an introvert with a quick tongue.” View the feature HERE, along with a live session of 2020 release “Buck” and self-released debut single “The Burbs” performed with Jeremy Duffy on lead guitar, Mateo Naranjo on bass, and Nick Berger on drums.

A song about hypervigilance, mixed by Lars Stalfors (Lil Peep, Soccer Mommy, St. Vincent), “Buck” premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on Apple Music. Building on the unique sound first introduced with “The Burbs” and “Bitter Winter“, DEAR-GOD channels a relentless energy and attitude into his new music that calls back to the notorious reputation of his live shows back in his hometown and base of Brampton, Ontario and beyond. TOWN BREWERY AND THE DIRTY NIL SET TO RELEASE BEER ON SEPT 24th WITH PORTION OF PROCEEDS SUPPORTING WATER SECURITY PROJECTS IN LOCAL INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES

Town Brewery makes quality craft beer just east of Toronto and regularly collaborates with like-minded artists and organizations on their Community Brews, whereby a percentage of proceeds go directly to various charity and environmental groups.  With this brew, they have partnered with Hamilton-based band The Dirty Nil with the goal of supporting Water Security projects in local Indigenous Communities.

Amp-blowing, JUNO Award-winning trio The Dirty Nil have embraced, torn down, and then reinvented the quintessential rock ‘n’ roll star archetype for years. Recently, the band announced the title of their hotly anticipated new album, Fuck Art, set for release New years Day 2021 via Dine Alone Records. The Dirty Nil’s third full-length is an unabashed concoction of classic-rock heroism, pop-punk horsepower, ‘80s indie scrappiness, ‘90s alterna-crunch, and speed-metal adrenaline.

The resulting brew from this collaboration is called Doom Boy, named after the latest single from their new album.  It is a crushable lager with a light Galaxy dry-hop to add a refreshing complexity that will satisfy even the nerdiest of craft beer lovers.

“‘Doom Boy’ is one of my favourite songs we’ve ever made. It’s an ode to chivalry and thrash itself, and yes, it’s my Mom’s Dodge Caravan,” said frontman Luke Bentham.

For this Community Collaboration, the band chose an organization to work with that is local to them and that will have a meaningful impact.  A portion of sales of Doom Boy Lager will support Ohneganos, an organization led by Hamilton’s McMaster University and Global Water Futures with the goal of developing water security in Indigenous communities through a co-creation of western science and Indigenous knowledge.

The project will use an innovative research framework informed by the Indigenous partners to facilitate sharing and integration of contemporary science and Indigenous and Local Knowledge. Building capacity to monitor source waters with environmental sensors, we will investigate ecosystem health and the cause of health issues related to contaminated water, design inclusive poly-centric decision-making models for water governance, and develop appropriate place-based sustainable solutions.

We promise these will ease the pain of 2020.”

More info on the tour may be found HERE

New album ‘Fuck Art’ will be out January 1st, 2021 via Dine Alone Records. The record is an exhilarating concoction of classic-rock heroism, pop-punk horsepower, ‘80s indie scrappiness, ‘90s alterna-crunch, and speed-metal adrenalin. They recently gave fans a taste of ‘Fuck Art’ by releasing “Doom Boy,” a mesh of thrashy, metal-like riffs with pop-punk melodies, and a radio-friendly chorus; it’s a hardcore basement punk love song about listening to Slayer in the back of a minivan that’s not afraid to sound pretty in a stadium.

Kerrang has called the trio “ridiculously infectious” while their last album (2018’s ‘Master Volume’) was praised by Vice Noisey as “the album rock ‘n’ roll deserves”. Watch them perform “Doom Boy” live to see what the buzz is all about.
