The Apache Relay
Biography
The highly anticipated new album from Nashville-based band The Apache Relay, will be released April 22 on Dine Alone Records in Canada. Produced by Kevin Augunas (Cold War Kids, Valerie June, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros), the self-titled album was recorded in Van Nuys, CA at Fairfax Recordings (formally known as the legendary Sound City Studios). Already receiving widespread critical praise, fuse.tv recently called them a band, “You Need to Know,” while Paste Magazine selected them as one of “12 Tennessee Bands You Should Listen to Now,” praising, “they sound big enough to fill up arenas.”
The Apache Relay is the follow up to the six-piece band’s 2011 release,American Nomad, which Indie Shuffle praised as, “…an excellent effort from a musically skilled group with evident appreciation for the rich, layered brand of American rock ‘n’ roll that pays homage to the road…” Their debut album, 1988, was released in 2009 and was produced Doug Williams. In the years since, the band has opened for Grammy award-winning Mumford & Sons and performed at multiple festivals, including Bonnaroo, the Newport Folk Festival, Firefly Music Festival, Voodoo Music Experience, Bristol Rhythm and Roots, and Gentlemen of the Road.
Formed by chance in a college dorm, The Apache Relay is Michael Ford Jr. (vocals), Mike Harris (guitar, vocals), Brett Moore (keys, guitar, mandolin), Kellen Wenrich (fiddle, keys), Ben Ford (guitar, vocals) and Stephen Smith (drums).
