4 Nights of Arkells

02.25.10 | posted by: Jordan

While many of us have been caught up in the wins/losses of Team Canada, there has been much more going on in Vancouver for the 2010 Olympics. Canadian musicians are in almost as extensive a showing as our athletes. Knocking the socks off audiences in Vancouver were the Arkells. The band played 4 shows and Vancouver Concert Addicts were there for each one of them.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: NEW SIGNING!!!!!

02.23.10 | posted by: Dine Alone

Dine Alone Records, home of award-winning artists Alexisonfire, Arkells and City and Colour – is excited to set a new place at the table for Montreal’s beloved indie-rockers Parlovr (pronounced “Parlour”).
Initially formed in a Mile-End loft during the winter of 2006 by guitarist/vocalist Louis David Jackson and keyboardist/vocalist Alex Cooper, the current incarnation of Parlovr came about in 2007 when drummer Jeremy MacCuish entered the fold – a catalyst to the fusion of the foiling songwriting styles of the original two. Since, the band has taken off on its own sonic tangent, appropriately dubbed “sloppy pop” in the past; stripped down but salacious and spastic.
Originally released independently in late 2008, Parlovr’s self-titled debut -- recorded and produced by Martin Horn at Digital Bird Studios – will be released on Dine Alone Records worldwide on March 23. The songs found therein are rooted in dramatic dynamics not unlike those that exist between Cooper and Jackson’s foiling songwriting styles – quiet and loud; screams and whispers; sing-alongs and spacey instrumentals; warm low-end and crisp, shimmering leads; short pop jabs and extended epics.

Parlovr has spent time bringing their melodies on the road, having toured extensively throughout Canada, New York, France and Europe alongside indie pop peers like Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand. The band kicks off another string of dates across Canada with four must-see showcases at Canadian Music Week 2010.

Children Collide

Children Collide

We here at Dine Alone Records have a knack for recognizing a damn good band when we hear it. That was definitely the case with one of the newest additions to the label, Children Collide. Nope, they aren't Canadian, in fact, they're from Australia, but we liked them so much we wanted to bring their music to the North.
Turns out we're not the only ones that think this band is totally killer! Sticky Magazine featured them as one of the 10 best of 2009 that you may have missed! If you missed them in 2009, start 2010 off right and check them out. Head over to iTunes to check out their Digital 45, if that does it for you, then check out the full length "The Long Now".
