Biography

Hanni El Khatib grew up in San Francisco raised on a molotov cocktail of skateboarding (he was creative director at HUF for 6 years), punk rock, and 1950s and 60s classic Americana. Influenced by pioneers of early rock and R&B, the multi-instrumentalist and producer derives his unique sound from a menagerie of inspirations, including ‘50 and ’60s blues, soul, garage rock and doo-wop. It’s malt shop music for those who drink them spiked with bourbon or in Hanni's own words “these songs were written for anyone who’s ever been shot or hit by a train. Knife fight music.” His debut album Will The Guns Come Out will be released Sept 27th on Innovative Leisure.

"Garage Rock is back! And at the forefront is the ever talented, one-man band Hanni El Khatib" - I-D MAGAZINE

“Top 11 Artists to Watch in 2011... Speaking of The Black Keys, Hanni El Khatib is the next garage-rock sensation on the verge.” - BOSTON GLOBE

“What's more American than a Palestinian/Filipino kid listening to Elvis in San Francisco? Hanni El Khatib mines '50s and '60s rock'n'roll with an immigrant son's cultural freedom to create smokey, boozy music that makes guitar rock exciting all over again!” - MTV

“This is going to be one of the best records of 2011, guaranteed.” - LA RECORD

“Hard to believe that only one man can pack this much heat.” - NYLON

“Hanni El-Khatib is one of the most talented acts in L.A. right now, a one-man band, singing, songwriting, and producing all on his own and synthesizing 50s and 60s garage rock, soul, blues, and even a bit of folk... and brings with him the rawness of Phil Spector, Jack White, the Shangri-Las, and the Black Keys.” - LA WEEKLY

“Hanni El Khatib's sound is a blistering barrage that you'd expect from a former San Francisco skate punk, recently transplanted to LA. Perhaps the closest comparison is to a "De Stijl"-era Jack White, if he had claimed lineage from the Stax catalog instead of Son House.” - LA TIMES

Hanni El Khatib's "Fuck it. You Win." video premieres on Rolling Stone

The Los Angeles based crooner has been on a massive steamroll this year with his debut record, Will The Guns Come Out. Directed by Simon Cahn (Lady Gaga, Nike, Louis Vuitton), the slow burning video for his latest single, "Fuck it. You Win." makes for a nice contrast to the track's distorted jolt. Thanks to the folks at Rolling Stone, you can watch it www.rollingstone.com target="_blank">HERE or above!
