Biography

Many think former Mayor, Rudy Giuliani killed crime in New York City but he didn’t – he just moved it. If you read the fine print there’s still a murder a day in the Big Apple, but they’re in East New York where all the junkies and perverts from the old Times Square now reside.

In the centre of this rotten part of town, a gang of teenage punks calling themselves CEREBRAL BALLZY have emerged to start a band that sound exactly like their surroundings. Obsessed with skating, pizza, beer and Beavis & Butthead re-runs, these aren’t college kids who think “the slums got so much soul.” CEREBRAL BALLZY were born and raised in New York’s asshole and instead of crying about it, they scream their way through a sprawling mess of 80s-hardcore and punk rock, that sounds like the Beastie Boys doing drunk-covers of Bad Brains.

Led by frontman Honor Titus and bassist Melvin Honore, the band work to restore something golden to New York’s Punk Rock history – BALLS! –

Recorded in Texas with producer Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio), Jaded And Faded tells the story of broken homes and broken bones. Already dubbed “New York’s next great band” by UK music-bible NME, BALLZY have toured the UK and Europe, performing with Anthrax, Fucked Up and OFF! and continue their never-ending tour of America, jumping headfirst off every monitor and into every pit covered in puke.

Cerebral Ballzy gives The AV Club an exclusive stream of their new track "Be Your Toy" from their upcoming album Jaded & Faded.

The Brooklyn punks have expanded their sound since releasing their self-titled debut album nearly three years ago. Since touring with everyone from OFF! to Fucked Up, it's possible this David Sitek (TV On The Radio) produced track is a hint of what's could new sounds could come down the road.

"...an atypically icy, arty chorus that swiftly kicks into a filthy, distorted chorus… 'Be Your Toy' gives the band a chance to play around and see what life might look like beyond punk." - The AV Club

Dine Alone welcomes Cerebral Ballzy

Dine Alone is excited to announce the addition of Brooklyn's Cerebral Ballzy to our Canadian roster! The hardcore punk quintet’s sophomore LP Jaded and Faded is set for release in early 2014 on Dine Alone (Canada) and Cult Records (US), label of The Strokes' Julian Casablancas.

A product of their surroundings, Cerebral Ballzy emerged from the borough with a sound to match it - a sounds dubbed by Strokes’ frontman Julian Casablancas as "truly legit modern hardcore/punk" and "by far" one of his favourite acts. Jaded and Faded was recorded in Texas with producer Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beady Eye) and tells the story of broken homes and broken bones.
